Good Afternoon St. Stephen Families.
This morning was our first Principal's Coffee of the year. Thank you to all those who joined us. I appreciate your thoughts and ideas. One of the topics we talked about at length is communication. Some of the comments/questions I had received prior to today either mentioned communication or were questions that could have been answered by one of the many ways we already communicate. While I'm happy to answer questions, I cannot stress enough how important it is to read the information we send to our community. Everyone should be reviewing the Parent/Student Handbook each year. When you registered, you acknowledge that you read the handbook AND that you will review it at the start of each year for changes/additions which are always highlighted in yellow. Being aware of what is in our handbook will answer many questions. The second item to read each week is Tidbits. This is how the school communicates what is happening now in the school. There is other information that is communicated through Facebook, Instagram, the Sunday Bulletin, emails, and texts, but the handbook and Tidbits should be your top priority. Other topics that were discussed were security, transitioning to middle school, Catholic identity, and more. There were some great ideas that I will take back to the teachers, the school board, and Fr. Dermot, and we will continue to have discussion about them. The next Principal's Coffee will be Thursday, December 4. Please join us and share you thoughts.
Please keep the faculty, staff, and parish employees in your prayers tomorrow as we participate in our annual parish retreat. This year we are spending the day at the Ringling Museum to reflect on how we encounter Christ through art and creation. Have a wonderful weekend.
Peace,
Linda Umoh
