Good Afternoon St. Stephen Families!
Welcome back to school! Thank you to everyone who came out to help with clean up at the school, both staff and parents. We know everyone is dealing with their own cleanups at home, so giving of your time to help at school was greatly appreciated. Today I had an opportunity to watch our 8th graders jump in to help St. Vincent de Paul. A member of the Green Bay Knights of Columbus drove here from Wisconsin with a U-Haul filled with supplies for SVDP and the students helped to get them unloaded. Thank you to the people of Wisconsin and our 8th graders for their kindness and willingness to think of others. Please know that we continue to send our prayers to all our families and in particular to those who are dealing with loss, damage, or displacement.
I know many of you are anxiously awaiting news about making up the lost days from Hurricane Milton. Make up days will be determined in November after principals have the opportunity to meet with the superintendent. The good news is that Thanksgiving break will remain the same. We will be closed the entire week of November 24. I will provide more information as soon as it is determined.
Yesterday, Servpro gave the all clear for two of the rooms in Angel's Wing and 6th grade is back in their homeroom. We are hoping to reopen Room 21 in Angel's Wing and the two PK rooms on Monday. I will be in touch with PK parents over the weekend to confirm.
As you may know, our first school-wide fundraiser is almost here. This year, the Mustang Walkathon will take place on Nov. 15. All families are required to fundraise a total of $250 between the Walkathon and Spirit Raffle. Our recommendation is to aim for raising $125 with each event. To kick off the event, students will participate in a pep rally on Friday, Oct. 25 during the school day. That Friday is also Trunk or Treat and the Pumpkin Patch in the evening. I hope to see many of you there.
Please take the time to read all of Tidbits as there are many upcoming events in the month of October.
Let us continue to place our trust in God, remembering that "He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1).
Peace,
Linda Umoh
