Hello St. Stephen Families!
I hope everyone is having a great week and enjoying the slightly cooler mornings. Please be sure to scroll through all the messages below regarding upcoming events.
I would like to take a moment to remind parents to please review our uniform policy and check your children before they leave the house in the morning. A number of students are out of uniform each day and the issues are the same:
- Girls skorts are too short (may only be two inches above the knee and middle school students may only wear junior sizes in the khaki skort).
- Socks are too short (must be at least ankle socks covering the ankle bone).
- Makeup is being worn, particularly mascara and lip color (these are not allowed).
- Boys hair is too long (hair must be above the eyebrows, ears, and collar)
- Wearing too much jewelry (more than one necklace) or jewelry that is not allowed. Students may wear a watch (no smartwatches, i.e., Apple Watch, Android Watch, etc.), a cross/crucifix, or a religious medal on a simple metal or rope/cord, chain, necklace, or bracelet. In addition, students may wear school-issued House bands or other school-issued wristbands and girls may wear one pair of stud earrings. I will start confiscating jewelry that does not meet these restrictions, and you may pick it up in the office.

Thanks to our amazing parent volunteers, the PTCO uniform closet is organized and now allows for an easy and quick purchase. If you're thinking about a uniform fleece or need any extra uniforms, there are plenty available.
We appreciate Cindy and Maritza's time and effort.
PTCO has requested all who donate uniforms, do not sort the uniforms or place them into the bins or the cabinets.
Kindly place your donations in the red plastic bin.

Grandparents and Grandfriends Day Attendance and Sign out Form
We are asking the parents of the students from PreK to 8th grade to let us know which Grandparents/Grandfriends will be attending on September 29, 2023. We also need to know if your student(s) Grandparents and Grandfriends plan on signing the student out for the rest of the day. If you have multiple students please submit the form below for each student by 9/26/23.
Parents, if you are not able to attend any of the four family or friend book fair opportunities during the week of 9/25, you will be able to send in this Permission Form for your student(s)! Link to the Permission slip Form.
Own The Avenue is a year-round fundraiser for the PTCO and gives you a great way to give your child a shout out for the school community to see! Birthdays, achievements, any positive vibes and kudos are welcome, and they certainly make your student feel special!!
The sign is located on the corner of our school parking lot and will be viewed and celebrated for the entire week. A PTCO member will be responsible for putting up the sign and after the week is done, the sign will be sent home with your student for yours to keep or to reuse for a future week!
In a nutshell here’s how it works:
If you have an existing sign, the cost is $30 for the week. If we need to order a new sign, the cost is $50 for the week. Please make payments through the school’s front office. To sign up, please use the following link and more details will follow. Please note, new signs take up to 2 weeks to process and receive from our vendor. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Nicole Rodriguez at nicrodriguez0722@gmail.com. Thank you in advance for your support!
IMPORTANT: Please note, this is a yearly fundraiser that is on a first come, first served basis (via SignUpGenius). For example, if you purchase a sign this year for a specific week 9-17-23 thru 9-23-23, that same week is not guaranteed to you for future years. It is required that you sign up each school year if you
wish to participate.

MUSTANG SPORTS:
Girls Volleyball: The girls varsity volleyball team lost to Mother Teresa two games to zero. The JV beat Mother Teresa two games to zero for their first win of the season. The Mustang volleyball teams are back on the court today against Villa Madonna here at St. Stephen in the FLC. The varsity match is at 4:00 pm and JV at 5:00 pm. The volleyball teams also have a match Tuesday against St. Lawrence at St. Lawrence. The varsity match is at 4:15 pm and JV at 5:15 pm.
COED SOCCER: The soccer team lost to Mother Teresa, 5-1, and their goal was scored by Ethan D. The Mustangs are back on the field today against Villa Madonna and Tuesday against St. Lawrence. Both games are at St. Stephen and start at 4:00 pm.

JV and varsity track is the next boys sport. Practice will start in mid October. The meet dates have been finalized by the Catholic sports league.

Safe Environment Training and Fingerprints
Everyone needs updated safe environment training and fingerprints in order to volunteer in the school or to chaperone a field trip. Safe environment and fingerprints are good for 5 years. Attached here are the instructions on how to get your safe environment certificate and to have your fingerprints done.
