Hello St. Stephen Families!
This week, students are participating in their first i-Ready diagnostic assessment of the year. The outcomes of these diagnostic evaluations play a role in guiding students toward the formulation of personal academic goals and help teachers differentiate their lessons to meet individual needs. By doing this we are able to keep to our mission of helping students reach their full academic potential. Like many Catholic schools in Florida, we are seeing a growth in the number of families who are seeking a Catholic education for their children. Families want an education for their children that not only provides academic excellence but also an environment where faith and values are nurtured. On Aug. 22, an article was released by Step Up for Students offering an insightful exploration into the reasons for the growth of Catholic schools in Florida. I'm proud to say that St. Stephen was one of the schools highlighted in the article for being innovative. A few years ago we were included in a similar article that focused on our Wit and Wisdom curriculum and this article was a follow-up on how Catholic schools are doing now. Spirit Wear Shop Open - EXTENDED
The link below will take you to the SSCS Spirit Wear Store.
The store will be open 7/30 at 8AM through 8/27 at midnight.. All proceeds will help the PTCO fund activities for the students during the school year. The Spirit Wear purchased through this link is for weekend wear and only allowed to be worn in school on specific school days. The clothing purchased through this link is not part of our school uniform but can be worn to school on days considered Free Dress Pass Days and Jean Days. The weekly school newsletter(Tidbits) sent out on Thursday and the school calendar will note when there is a Jean Day or a Free Dress Pass Day. The school handbook also provides info regarding uniforms and Spirit Wear.

Mustang Sports
MUSTANG SPORTS:
The St. Stephen coed soccer and girls volleyball teams have a couple of weeks of practice before the games and matches start. The volleyball teams have their first match on Wednesday, September 6, vs Nativity here at St. Stephen in the FLC. The varsity match starts at 4:00 pm and the JV at 5:00 pm. The soccer team has its first game on Thursday, September 7, vs Christ the King at St. Stephen at 4:00 pm. Please see the school website under Athletics for the complete 2023 girls volleyball and coed soccer schedules.
All student-athletes must have the two Diocesan required sports forms completed in full the FHSAA sports physical (new updated version) & Diocesan consent form, and the $75 sports fee turned in to the office or Coach Green to be eligible to participate in the matches/games. The $75 sports fee is per sport. The sports forms are available on the school website under Athletics and Forms.

Safe Environment Training and Fingerprints
Everyone needs updated safe environment training and fingerprints in order to volunteer in the school or to chaperone a field trip. Safe environment and fingerprints are good for 5 years. Attached here are the instructions on how to get your safe environment certificate and to have your fingerprints done.
